The Tree
The Tree

The Olive Tree, comes from the plant family of Oleaceae, which is an evergreen tree. The Olive Tree is native to the Mediterranean region, tropical and central Asia as well as parts of Africa, where weather conditions favour the growth of these trees. Olive trees are long-lived, with a life expectancy of up to a thousand year. That it would fully recover and keep on growing even when cut or threatened by the worst conditions. The Olive Tree is blessed with super-rich anti-oxidants, which explains its awesome resilient forces.

The Leaf

Leaf PhotoThe Olive leaf first gained its positive acclaim when a dove carried an olive branch to Noah's Ark. Luckily for us, the Olive Leaf carries numerous benefits for us.

Hidden infection has been implicated in many disease processes ranging from cancer to heart disease. Olive leaf extract combats underlying problems with its anti-infection and heart protective properties. The active ingredient oleuropein, found throughout the tree, is the same bitter substance that is removed from green olives when they are processed. But this extract has enormous anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, anti-parasitic properties and is beneficial to the heart.

The anti-microbial properties of olive leaf have been known for 6,000 years in the Mediterranean region, including Ancient Egypt where the extract was used for mummification of their kings, and later as a folk remedy for fever. In more recent centuries, it was also found to be superior to quinine for the treatment of malaria. The Olive Leaf is thus used for enhanced immune function in our body systems.

The Olive Leaf also contains Bioflavonoids (natural Vitamin C helpers) including Rutin, Luteolin and Hesperidin. In addition to boosting the numerous benefits of Vitamin C as a stress protector and anti-oxidant, these Bioflavonoids are needed for maintenance of capillary walls.

Many medical reports have confirmed the benefits of the Olive Leaf, including a research done by medical journalist, Morton Walker, who reported is research from Budapest, Hungary, showing 98% recovery from infections in chronically ill patients after using olive leaf extract, with no adverse side-effects.

With such beneficial properties, it is no wonder that the Olive Leaf is now tapped upon to benefit the human body. Our Olive Manon skin care products contain the Olive Leaf extract to combat skin problems and to improve the skin's texture and radiance as well as its resilience to worsening environmental conditions.
